High School Regional Governor’s Cup Academic Competition Set To Begin

The road to the Kentucky Academic Championships continues this week as students from 193 High Schools across the Commonwealth gather at 16 competition sites for Regional Governor's Cup academic competition.

The Future Problem Solving and Composition events are scheduled for Thursday, February 21. Saturday, February 23 features five Written Assessment exams and Quick Recall. Quick Recall begins at 10:30 a.m. prevailing local time and is open to the public. After Quick Recall, students receive awards at a public awards ceremony. The start time for that ceremony varies.

Regional Governor's Cup contestants successfully advanced from local District competitions, and hope to perform well this week and proceed to the Kentucky Academic Championships, March 15-17 in Louisville, sponsored by Ashland Inc. The top five contestants in Written Assessment and Composition, and the top two Quick Recall and Future Problem Solving teams advance to the Kentucky Academic Championships.

This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the Governor's Cup event.
