As part of KAAC’s mission “to enrich the lives of Kentucky students through academic competition”, we would like to serve as an information clearinghouse for all Kentucky academic competitions.
Events that have submitted their information to us are listed below. If you coordinate a statewide academic event for Kentucky students and would like to be listed in this directory, please fill out this form.
LifeSmarts: The Ultimate Consumer Challenge
Description
Students qualify online by answering questions in the areas of consumer rights and responsibilities, health and safety, personal finance, technology, and the envrionment. Invited qualifying teams meet face to face in Frankfort to compete in a game show style competition for a chance to represent Kentucky at the national LifeSmarts competition in Philadelphia, PA in April 2012.
Grade Levels
9-12 in KY
Cost
None. There are some expenses not covered by partners for the winning team to attend the national competition such as some meals, baggage fees, and other incidentals. Lodging and airfare paid by partners. There are FREE teaching resources available on the LifeSmarts website.

Kentucky MATHCOUNTS Competition
Description
Mathcounts’ mission is to increase interest and involvement in mathematics among all intermediate school students in order to assist in developing a technically literate population essential to US global competitiveness and the quality of life.

6th, 7th, 8th
Cost
Approximately $25/student to enter chapter competitions
