FPS Junior Division Competition

Announced!
The Kentucky Association for Academic Competition sponsors a Junior Division in Future Problem Solving for students in grades 4-6; the JR Division is a component of the International FPS Program. The JR Division is offered as a separate competition and is NOT a part of Governor's Cup Competition.

WHO may participate?
|
A team of students in grades 4-6 may participate in the JR Division of FPS. Since the Governor's Cup State Finals Competition is held simultaneously with JR Division FPS, students MAY NOT participate in both in March if your 6th graders also write for your Governor's Cup team. 6th grade students may not participate in the ELEMENTARY division of Governor's Cup.

WHEN will this occur?
|
The qualifying competition is held on December 10, 2009 and the state competition is held on March 13, 2010.

WHAT is required?
|
A school pays a JR Division registration fee of $50 for the first team and $25 for each additional team it registers and prepares the team on the qualifying topic--ORPHANED CHILDREN. Teams advancing to the State Finals will write on FOOD DISTRIBUTION.

WHERE will it be held?
|
Various locations across the state volunteer to host schools. Teams registered for the JR Division qualifying competition will travel to a local host site and participate at a time determined by the local PARTICIPATING teams. The dates cannot be changed to accommodate a conflict with any team. The JR Division state competition is held at the Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky at the same time the middle grades and high school Governor's Cup Competitions are held.

WHEN will I be notified about the local competition site?
|
As soon as the registration date closes, host sites will be determined. An email notification will be sent to all coaches telling who will be hosting their respective competition.

HOW do I enter?
|
Complete this registration form before November 13, 2009.

WILL I be able to make substitutions?
|
Yes, this is a registration form and substitutions may be made for any of the 4 players up until the time the competition begins. Remember--4 students are required to participate for each team.

WHEN is evaluation?
|
The qualifying booklets are evaluated after the original booklets are returned to KAAC. Booklets are recoded and mailed to the coaches to be scored by your local school's evalautor/s. All completed score sheets and ranks are due by January 5, 2010. Notification of advancement to state will be announced three (3) weeks following the the return of rankings (anticipated date will be January 26.) The top teams are invited to the state finals. State team booklets are evaluated on-site by FPS trainers.
