SCENARIO WRITING
State Results Announced!
FPS helps students think critically, creatively and futuristically.  Scenario Writing helps to encourage futuristic thinking by allowing students to create images of the future.  A scenario is a short story in which one possible outcome of the future is developed through character(s) and plot.  It is a prediction of the future based on the current year FPS topics and is written as though the future were the present.
WHO may participate? 
Any student in the following divisions:
Junior - Grades 4-6 Middle Grades - Grades 7-9 High School - Grades 10-12
WHEN will the event occur?
Scenarios must be postmarked by January 16, 2009.
Registrations must be received by December 5, 2008.

WHAT is required?
Entry fee per student is required (each student may submit only one scenario).
1 - 3 Students         = $30.00 per student
4 - 6 Students         = $25.00 per student
7 - 10 Students       = $20.00 per student
11 or more Students = $15.00 per student
WHY offer Scenario Writing?
  • Add an outstanding piece to a student's portfolio.
  • Meet the service needs for gifted students in creative writing.
  • To qualify for participation in the FPSP International Conference.
WHERE will the event be held?
There is no competition site.  The students work on their scenarios and submit them to KAAC by mail.
WHEN is evaluation?
Scenarios are evaluated by FPS Trainers and writing instructors.  Students are notified of the results by February 28, 2009.  The top scenario in each division is invited to attend the FPS International Conference to be held at Michigan State University on May 27 - 31, 2009.  The top scenarios are also entered into the International Scenario Writing competition.
